Main muscles used in gymnastics

Triceps Brachii
Quadracep Group (Vastus Lateralis,Medialis,Intermedialis, and Rectus Femoris)
Erector Spinae Group (Spinalis,Longissimus, Iliocostalis)
Soleus
Rectus Abdominis
Hamstring Group (Biceps Femoris, Semmimembranosus,Semitendinosus)

The Core

The Rectus Abdominis helps in stabilizing the gymnast and also to help the gymnast with inspriation and expiration.

The Spinalis and Longissimus help with flexing and extending the spine and head, while the Illiocostalis helps laterally flex and extend the spine only.

The Legs

The Rectus Femoris, Vastus Lateralis,Intermediud, and Medialis help with the extention of the knee and flexion of the hip. They are also the most powerful part of the body that allows the gymnast to push off, spring and stabilize when landing.

The Soleus is important allows the foot to plantar and dorsi flex, which allows for proper landings and aggressive take offs.

The Arms

The Triceps are mainly responsible for extending the arm and this is important in gymnastics as gymnast need to have straight arms so there are no deductions and so that they can support themselves when upside down.
